Adrian’s Flare Characteristics: A head for science, a heart for patients, and a passion to lead.

Adrian is a board-certified physician scientist with more than 20 years of research and clinical development experience spanning oncology, infectious disease and neuroscience.

He has devoted his career to building and leading high performing teams to accelerate clinical development for small and large molecule therapeutics. Adrian has contributed to the development of approved products including Avastin®, Zemdri®, Tarceva®, Zelboraf®, and Cotellic®, and investigational medicines including MetMAb, Apo2L, anti-DR5, anti-LRRK2, anti-LILRB4, anti-CD96, and anti-CD200R1, and has authored over 60 peer-reviewed papers. Before turning his attention to industry, he was an oncology and angiogenesis researcher at the University of Oxford, where he completed joint academic/clinical training and joined the faculty of the Nuffield Department of Clinical Laboratory Sciences.

When he’s not working, Adrian enjoys being a husband and a father, leading a Cub Scout Pack, woodworking with hand tools, and trying (so far unsuccessfully) to break the 7min/2km wall on his concept2 rower.

WHAT MAKES YOU EXCITED TO ‘BRING IT’ EVERY DAY AT WORK?

The earnest pursuit of a cure, bringing hope to a terminal diagnosis, and proving the doctrines about targeting transcription factors wrong. Doing it all with a kickass team; helping each other over every hurdle, picking each other up and pushing forward.

WHAT ENERGY COMES TO MIND IN DESCRIBING THE FLARE TEAM?

Flares have an unbridled enthusiasm for science and their colleagues; this compassionate, caring energy translates into a drive to take on difficult targets and offer hope to patients.
